Elephone is one of those up and coming China-based smartphone OEMs. It's hard to leave your mark in the Chinese smartphone market these days considering the amount of companies which are releasing smartphones. China is full of well-known firms which are constantly improving their devices and smaller vendors like Elephone really have to step it up in order to compete. Well, Elephone is actually doing just that lately, the company has announced a rather interesting P7000 handset which sports a metal frame, 1080p display, 3GB of RAM and a fingerprint scanner while it will be priced at only $199. To make things even more interesting, Elephone seems to be working on an even more powerful handset. We've shared some details yesterday regarding the company's upcoming device which was spotted during the annual Hong Kong trade fair. Well, we have some additional details to share with you now, not only regarding this device but a couple more Elephone-branded smartphones. Anyhow, let's get started.
The first device that is mentioned in the newest leak is the '2K Flagship Elephone (Version B)'. This is not what the smartphone will be called in the end, of course. Anyhow, this device will feature a QuadHD (2560 x 1440) display along with 3GB of RAM (won't sport 4GB after all) and Intel's SoC on the inside. This handset will offer either Android 5.0 Lollipop or Windows 10 OS, though we still don't know how will this work. Dual boot perhaps? Well, we'll have to wait and see, but it sure seems like it. This handset will also feature a 20.7-megapixel camera on the back (Sony's IMX230 sensor), a 3,800mAh battery and 32GB of internal storage. This variant is said to be released in June.
This handset will also be available in one more variant referred to as the '2K Flagship Elephone (Version A)'. This handset will look the same and sport almost the same specs as the aforementioned device. This device will be powered by a MediaTek MT6795 SoC, and not the Intel chip. That's not all, this handset will only have the option to run Android 5.0 Lollipop, not Windows 10 OS. The promotional material says that this device will land in May, so the launch date is close.
Some additional promotional material revealed that Elephone is also planning to release the P4000 and G9 handsets. The P4000 is a mid-range device, while the G9 is a low-end offering by Elephone. The P4000 will sport a 5-inch 720p display along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. This handset will be powered by MediaTek's MT6735 64-bit quad-core processor and will ship with a 4,800mAh battery on the inside. 13 and 2-megapixel sensors are also mentioned and will be located on the back and front of this device, respectively. This device will be released in May.
The Elephone G9 will come sporting a 4.5-inch FWVGA display, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. This handset will actually be available in two versions, the other one will sport 1GB of RAM and 8GB of in-built storage. MediaTek's MT6735 SoC will power on this device as well and you'll get support for 4G LTE connectivity. April is listed as the launch date for the Elephone G9.
