EE Offering Customers A Free Rechargeable 2,600mAh Power Bar With Unlimited Swaps In-Store

Battery power is an increasing issue for mobile device owners. Although, smartphones are considered to be generally coming equipped with better and more efficient batteries with higher battery capacities, the problem is that the rest of their smartphone is increasing too. This means higher levels of resolution on the display, greater core processors which offer better levels of multitasking and so on. All of these additionally increased features result in a more battery hogging device. As such, recent reports have suggested ways in which some researchers are looking to offer unique battery options in the future. Some of these ideas including thinner and more flexible batteries while others include smaller and anode-less batteries.

Of course, users can always just pick up a portable power bank to help keep them charged while out on the road. Although, these do come at an additional cost. Well, that is unless you are an EE customer in the UK. The UK carrier has just announced a new program which will offer all of their customers the ability to get their hands on a free portable power bank, or more specifically, a 'Power Bar'. These are 2,600mAh powered external batteries and are stated to offer as many as 500 recharge cycles. That said, the level of recharge cycles is slightly irrelevant as EE are sweetening the deal by offering customers the ability to swap their Power Bar at any time and for any reason, at any store. In fact, if you are just out and both your phone battery and Power Bar have depleted, you can walk straight into an EE store and exchange it for a fully charged unit. Same again, the day after and the day after that.

To take advantage of the deal is rather easy. If you are an on contract or pay-as-you-go customer, then you can simply text a number (charged at 35p) and in reply an authorisation code will be sent to your device. This confirms you are an EE customer. With the code, you can walk into your local store and collect your Power Bar. It is worth noting that if you are a pay-as-you-go customer, you do need to have been a customer for at least three months.
