Xiaomi is well-known for releasing a ton of teaser images before they actually announce a product. More often than not, those teasers are rather odd and not exactly straight to the point. The company has already teased two new announcements for April 15 and April 23 a couple of days ago. The former one actually referenced "North" and "South", so we guessed that the company intends to release some sort of a GPS device or something. Well, a new Xiaomi teaser appeared teasing that very same event, and this one is a bit different.
If you take a look at the provided image, you'll notice car tracks along with the date of the event. Could this mean that Xiaomi plans to announce their electric car tomorrow? We haven't heard much about it, but some info did leak a while back. One thing is for sure, if Xiaomi does unveil an electric car, that would be a huge surprise. Not only because we haven't seen any info on it, but also because Xiaomi's CEO confirmed that the company won't launch that thing anytime soon. He said that last month, so this launch seems highly unlikely. It is of course possible that Xiaomi intends to share some info on the car itself, but not officially announce it. We really don't know what else this teaser might be about, the car tracks are rather obvious here. Either way, we'll find out soon enough, whatever it is, the company will share more details tomorrow.
Xiaomi has announced quite a few products this year, some of which are not smartphones. Xiaomi has announced a smart scale, smart lightbulb, air purifier, Mi TV 2 variants, etc. This company is actually the number one smartphone OEM in China at the moment and their appetite for success is huge. It wouldn't exactly be that surprising to see Xiaomi launch an electric car in the future, but it's kind of hard to believe that will happen today, especially considering Lei Jun's recent statement. Anyhow, stay tuned, we'll make sure to report back as soon as Xiaomi reveals what hides behind the recent teasers.
