Alcatel OneTouch is teaming up with T-Mobile to offer their most affordable LTE smartphone, the POP Astro. Alcatel OneTouch is known for offering high quality and low-cost to T-Mobile customers. Starting today, it will be available at T-Mobile stores and online for $0 down and only $6.24 a month for 24 months, which totals only $149.76. The POP Astro brings the speed of LTE to the masses, along with HD Voice and is both VoLTE and Wi-Fi capable. The POP Astro is a follow up to the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce 2 and Evolve 2 introduced to T-Mobile customers this past fall.
Steve Cistulli, Senior Vice President & General Manager of North America for Alcatel OneTouch said, “Alcatel OneTouch and T-Mobile have built a strong partnership by offering great looking, high-quality, affordable devices like POP Astro to our customers. We’ve been committed to bringing more affordable LTE devices, such as the POP Astro, into the hands of customers, further democratizing smart mobile technology and giving budget conscious consumers better choices in their smartphone experience.”
The POP Astro sports a 4.5-inch qHD (not to be confused with a QHD) TFT display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. MediaTek’s latest quad-core LTE MTK6732 processor clocked at 1.5GHz – the first one used in North America, powers it. The POP Astro includes an improved graphics processing that delivers high-end performance with low power consumption and can handle all of your media, gaming and app usage, giving users a great visual experience. It is packing 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, although it does have a microSD card slot to add up to an additional 32GB. The main camera is a fixed focus 5MP and the front-facing camera (FFC) is of the VGA variety. A 2000mAh battery that offers up to 8 hours of talk and 250 hours of standby time provides power.
These devices will not be competing with the likes of the new HTC One M9, Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge or LG G4, but then the Alcatel OneTouch POP Astro costs almost one-fifth of those powerhouse flagships. It is great for T-Mobile customers to have such a variety of devices to choose from and with Alcatel they know they will get a great looking device, well-built and easy on the wallet.
