It has been a bumpy ride for those waiting on their Android 5.0 (Lollipop) update. Especially those who own Samsung devices. The tech giant has a massive plethora of devices which means rolling out the Lollipop update to all the devices can be tricky. Especially, within a relative time frame to each other. That is even before Samsung have to factor the plethora of regional variants of each device they have. While the manufacturers do roll out the updates, initially. Depending on the carrier and how much of their own content the carriers want to include, will and does affect how long the final update takes to land for the end user.
Take the Samsung Galaxy S5 for instance. This device has been seeing its update rolling out, but this has been dependent on carriers. Mid-way through February, it was reported T-Mobile had begun their Galaxy S5 update. Likewise, two weeks before T-Mobile, Sprint were reported to be beginning their update. Not to mention, that a couple of days before Sprint, Verizon were also beginning to roll out their update. Now, today, at the end of March, Verizon are rolling out their update to the Galaxy S5.
In case, you are wondering, there was no typo there. Verizon did begin rolling out their update at the start of February with version LRX21T.G900VVRU1BNLC. However and for whatever reason, the update seemed to have been pulled by Verizon. This was possibly due to some issues that users noted being experienced. Either way, the update does appear to be back on track again and has commenced rolling out to Galaxy S5 owners. The latest version does come with a new version number (LRX21T.G900VVRU1BOC4), although in reality, it does seem to be the same update as last time. That is, presumably with any fixes for those issues which were occurring.
