After months of leaks and rumors, Samsung has finally announced their new Galaxy S6 flagships during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona earlier this month. This Korea-based tech giant took a somewhat different approach to design this time around. For the first time in their history, they manufactured a metal unibody smartphone(s). That’s not all though, the Galaxy S6 Edge also features curved display on both its left and right side, which makes it stand out to some extent. Samsung took more of a traditional approach with the Galaxy S6. These handsets are making its way to many markets around the world, and it seems like India is next in line.
The company has announced that they’ll announce their new Galaxy S6 flagships in India during an event in New Delhi on March 23rd. The event will take place at 11am (local time), and you can check out the announcement itself, in a form of an image, above this article. The pricing for India is still unknown, but the event is only three days away, we’ll know more on Monday. Both of these handset will quite probably go on sale on April 10th, but you’ll be able to pre-order them sooner than that.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge handsets come sporting a 5.1-inch QuadHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB, 64GB or 128GB of non-expandable built-in storage. The company’s very own 14nm Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core processor (quad-core 1.5 GHz cortex-A53 and quad-core 2.1 GHz cortex-A57) is powering on these handsets, and Android 5.0.2 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top of it. 16-megapixel OIS camera (+LED flash) is located on the back of these handsets, and a 5-megapixel snapper is available up front. Both devices are made out of metal with glass panels on both their front and back sides, which makes them both feel and look premium. The Galaxy S6 measures 143.4 x 70.5 x 6.8mm and weighs 138 grams, while the Galaxy S6 Edge measures 142.1 x 70.1 x 7mm and weighs 132 grams. Both of Samsung’s new flagships support 4G LTE (category 10), of course.
