Motorola 'Red Leather' Mystery Turns Out To Be Red Leather Moto X (2nd Gen) Option And Now Available

Towards the end of last week, Motorola sent out a teaser, which at the time, did little more than tease. The image came via the company's twitter account and simply showed a red leather jacket along with the tag "What's your favorite #RedLeather go-to item?" Along with a follow-up statement "We've got a little something in the works…any guesses?". At the time, and with the vague information, the guessing game was also rather vague. It was pretty much assumed that it would not be a new product, but instead an extension or additional variation of a current Motorola device. With the two most likely candidates being a Moto X variant or a Moto 360 variant.

Well, it looks like the mystery has now been solved, with Motorola making available a new option for the Moto X (2nd Gen) on the Moto Maker site. As you have probably guessed by now, the option is the inclusion of a red leather rear casing. If red leather is your color then you can now order the Moto X (2nd gen) via the Motorola site (source link below). There is no additional cost for the red leather option, compared to the already available leather options. Although, it is worth pointing out that the leather cover options do come with a $25 premium on top of the standard $399.99 price of the device.

If the red is swaying you and you need a quick reminder of the Moto X (2nd gen) then here is a quick spec rundown. The Moto X (2014) comes with a 5.2-inch AMOLED display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution and 423 PPI. Inside, the Moto X comes equipped with 2GB RAM and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor (with Adreno 330 GPU). In terms of memory, the Moto X is offered in either a 16GB or 32GB internal storage variant and it is worth noting that there is no microSD card slot option with this one. Although, you can upgrade to the 'Pure Edition' which offers 64GB internal storage. Camera wise, the Moto X is loaded with a 13 MP rear camera option coupled with a 2MP front facing option. All powered by a 2,300mAh battery. If you do fancy picking up the Moto X in red leather then click the source link below.
