Just this morning Google announced a new collection of Chromebooks and Chrome OS devices, including two new affordable Chromebook models from one of the new partners to bring Chromebooks to "everyone, everywhere," with the all new Haier Chromebook 11 and the Haier Chromebook 11e. The Haier Chromebook 11 will come in at a price of $149 and is already available to pre-order from Amazon, sporting a 10 hour battery life and a decent range of specifications for anyone looking to pick up a starter Chromebook model to meet their needs, which could range from anyone in emerging markets or businesses or even the education sector.
The Haier Chromebook 11 features an 11.6-inch display with a 200 nit brightness, and is powered by a Rockchip 3288 processor clocked at 1.8GHz with 2GB of DDR3L SDRAM and 16GB of internal storage and an ARM Mali 760 quad-core GPU for handling the graphics. It's rated for up to 10 hours of battery life which can of course vary depending on how you use it, but anywhere between 8-10 hours is probably what consumers can expect. There is no touchscreen here like on the new ASUS Chromebook flip, so inputs are sticking to the basic keyboard and trackpad which is just fine. All the standard ports and connection types seem to be present here, including WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0, smart ready controller, 2 USB 2.0 ports, a uSD card reader, headphone/mic combination port, and an HDMI out port.
It also features high power stereo speakers with a built-in mic, and a 720p webcam for video chats, conference calls, meetings etc. It weighs about 2.54 lbs. and as for the dimensions it measures at 11.4" x 8.1" x 0.71". (or 290mm x 205mm x 17.9mm) Haier is also launching a Chromebook 11e, which as far as we can tell from the specs given to us by Google, there are only a few minor differences, one being that the Chromebook 11e features a removable battery. It also has a full-size SD card reader instead of the embedded uSD reader on the Chromebook 11, and the dimensions and weight are slightly different with the Chromebook 11e as well, coming in at 11.5" x 8.2" x 0.89" (292mm x 209mm x 22.6mm) and weighing 2.76lbs. instead of 2.54. The Haier Chromebook 11 as we stated above, can already be pre-ordered on Amazon, the Chromebook 11e however, does not appear to be available for pre-order or purchase just yet, and there is no word on whether or not the cost is the same.
