It will be a busy week at MWC with a whole host of announcement coming down the wire. The latest news comes in from Acer, who has just announced the launch of the Acer Z220 and Z520 smartphones. These are the latest additions to the Acer Z-Series lineup. The Z220 is designed to be the more budget minded of the two and as such is ideal for those moving up from a feature phone or looking for an affordable secondary device. With that in mind, the price of the Z220 will be set at â‚¬89. The Z520 is primed to be more towards the user who requires more of a media suitable option. This is optimized with the use of a larger screen and octa-core processor. However, in spite of the upgrade in specs, the Z520 is still budget-minded price and comes in at a reasonable â‚¬109. The Z220 is expected to see its release in March while the Z520 will follow in April.
The larger of the two is the Z520 which comes with a 5 inch FWVGA display (233 ppi). Inside the Z520 comes with 1GB RAM and powered by a 1.3Ghz Quad-core processor. In terms of memory, the device comes with 8GB internal storage as well as a standard microSD card slot. Camera-wise, the Z520 comes with a voice activated 8 megapixel rear shooter and a 2 megapixel front facing option. Additional features worth noting include a 2,000mAh battery, dual-SIM support and running on Android 4.4 (KitKat). In terms of size, the Z520 measures 144 x 70 x 9.3 mm.
In terms of the Z220, this one comes with a smaller 4 inch WVGA display. Inside, the Z220 is equipped with 1GB RAM and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 dual-core processor (clocked at 1.2GHz). In respect of memory, the Z220 is identical to the Z520 offering 8GB internal storage along with a microSD for expandable storage. Camera-wise, the Z220 comes equipped with a 5 megapixel rear shooter and a 2 megapixel front facing option. Additional features of this one include a 1,300mAh battery, dual-SIM support and running on Android 5.0 (Lollipop). The Z220 will measure 126 x 65 x 9.8mm.
