Sony has been making Android tablets for a long time now, since the original Xperia S Tablet that launched back during the days of Honeycomb. Since then, we've sen some great tablets from Sony, including the Xperia Z2 Tablet and the latest Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. While we've been hearing rumors that the Xperia Z4 isn't going to be announced during Mobile World Congress this year, with the lack of a Press Conference backing it up, it looks like an Xperia Z4 something is on its way. As Xperia-Blog have noted, an Xperia Z4 Tablet, complete with 2K display is about to be launched.
The Xperia Lounge app, a pre-installed app on Sony smartphones and devices, was spotted earlier today as listing a reveal date for the Xperia Z4 Tablet in the next 7 days. This has since been removed from the app (I checked myself, and it's no longer there) and it would appear that the full reveal is coming next week during MWC 2015. 7 days from now would be next Wednesday, right in the middle of Mobile World Congress. As for the tablet itself, well there's not much to gain from just one screenshot. However, a 2K display is confirmed as plain as day and it does appear to be a larger tablet, so we're assuming this to be the follow-up to the Xperia Z2 Tablet.
We'll know more next week, and we'll be on the show floor in Barcelona to get hands-on on whatever it is that Sony decided to bring with them to Spain to show off. With a design like the Xperia Z3 in the images below, it doesn't look like this year is going to be the year that Sony completely revamps their smartphone and tablet designs. Adopting a 2K, 2560 x 1600 display is a big deal for Sony though, as they've traditionally stuck to 1080p in all of their smartphones and tablets, so I'm excited to see what they do with such a high-resolution display on a tablet.
