It is that time of year again for speculation, leaks and even hints from Samsung about its upcoming flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S6. As we get closer, the rumors really begin to fly, but all should be revealed early in March at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. The latest finding we have is from the Zauba website in India, where many devices are shipped for testing and evaluation. They are showing a Samsung Mobile Phone, SM-G920V and SM-G920F, with a screen size of 5-inches – which could signal that Samsung is shrinking – even so slightly – the 5.1-inch Galaxy S5 display down to an even 5-inches for the new Galaxy S6. Those model numbers are associated with the new Galaxy S6 according to several blog sites.
After lackluster sales of their last Galaxy S5, Samsung needs the new Galaxy S6 to be totally new and innovative. Between the success of Apple's new iPhone – you have probably read where they invented a larger screen – on the high-end side and the tremendous success of China manufacturers, especially Xiaomi, grabbing the low-end, Samsung's sales and profits continue to decline. Xiaomi grabbed the top spot in China this year from Samsung and is heavily marketing in the lucrative Indian market as well.
We have heard rumors of a curved display on each side – similar to the new Galaxy Note Edge, but this is the first time we hear they might reduce the display size. In a time when most manufacturers are increasing the display size or keeping it the same, it does seem odd that they are reducing – although a tenth of an inch is certainly not significant or would even be noticeable. Most techies are more concerned about it receiving a QHD display to keep up with other 2560 x 1440 displays and this is all but a certainty – and it would be very sharp on a 5-inch display.
Other rumors are that the new Galaxy S6 may be a little longer and thinner than the current Galaxy S5. We are also hearing that Samsung will bypass the Snapdragon 810 in favor of their own Exynos 64-bit octa-core processor, we also read where Qualcomm is reengineering the Snapdragon 810 for Samsung, we also heard that there will be two versions – one with the Exynos chip and later one with a Snapdragon 810 chip. We have also heard that Samsung may be removing much of its bloatware, allowing the user to download them as an app, if they want to use them. There has also been leaks of Galaxy S6 cases, possibly giving us a clue to its dimensions.
Like I said, it is that time of year again, and both Samsung lovers and haters are all gathered to see the announcement from Samsung the first of March. Please hit us up on our Google+ Page and let us know if you are excited or meh about the new Samsung Galaxy S6…as always, we would love to hear from you.
