HTC appear to be all set to announce the new HTC One M9 on the 1 March and we've seen a number of different rumors concerning the likely specification of the new HTC flagship. It's not that I'm counting the days, but I am excited for the new product from HTC. I'm keen to see the direction that HTC are going to be taking their device and it'll become something of a bellwether for the smartphone industry in 2015, along with the Samsung Galaxy S6. We've seen several rumors regarding the specification, which puts the device with a 1080p resolution screen of either 5.0-inch or 5.2-inch in size, a 64-bit, octa core, Qualcomm Snapdragon processor paired up with 3 GB of RAM. The Snapdragon 810 is a pair of quad-core processors in a big.LITTLE arrangement that sees a high-performance quad core processor paired up with a high-efficiency quad core arrangement.
Whilst what's on the inside is important, it's important that we don't forget what's on the outside. And over the last few months we've seen a number of renders and leaked images that show that the One M9 might look like, but until now we've not seen anything that suggests a size or shape. Today, I'm bringing you our strongest clues yet in the form of a number of case designs from an official Dutch Otterbox reseller. And clearly, Otterbox have seen and handled the new HTC, not that I'm jealous or anything!
Shape-wise, the Otterbox designs show the usual suspects: cutouts for the MicroUSB port, 3.5mm headphone jack, camera lens and flash. The camera lens is squarer than the HTC One M8 and there doesn't appear to be a duo camera set up, which HTC used with the One M8. which we have already seen. And we don't know the dimensions of the case, so it's impossible to know how big the One is. We do know the price, €29.95, and release date of the 1 April (I'm hoping that this isn't a clue!). This doesn't necessarily mean that the new One will be released on this date; with HTC, I'm suspecting that the device will be released much sooner than the 1 April.
There's bound to be other case leaks in the coming days and weeks and for other devices too; February is one of my favorite times of the year because of this! What do our readers think of the likely design shape of the One M9? Let us know in the comments below.
