Sony's not doing all that well as far as smartphone and tablet sales profit goes, the company has been having issues turning profit for a long time now and they had to cut costs last year and have cut a good portion of their workforce as part of that. The company said that they'll focus on high-end devices and try to get more involved top tier markets, like the US. This doesn't mean they won't be making low and mid-range smartphones though, the Xperia M3 surfaced quite recently, and now we have some new info regarding the Xperia M4 Aqua.
This is the first time we hear about the Xperia M4 Aqua. I don't know if you recall this, but Sony launched the Xperia M2 Aqua mid-ranger back in August. According to AndroidOS's unnamed sources, Sony will launch the Xperia M4 Aqua at their MWC (Mobile World Congress) event next month. This phone will be a direct successor to the Xperia M2 Aqua, and it will also be a mid-ranger. The Aqua M4 will come with IP65/68 rating for water and dust resistance. The device is said to run Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.
Other specifications of this device are currently unknown, but we can always guess what will Sony include here. The device will quite probably sport a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 1GB of RAM and a battery which will range between 2,200 and 2,500mAh. The device is expected to go on sale in the second quarter this year, and to cost between £200 and £250, though it will probably be closer to £200.
There you have it folks, keep in mind that his is just a rumor though, Sony still hasn't confirmed that they'll launch this device next week. MWC in Barcelona kicks off soon, so stay tuned we'll be at the scene and will do our best to pass on any relevant news as soon as possible. That being said, what do you expect of Sony at this year's MWC? What do you think the company will unveil in Barcelona?
