Over the last few weeks we've been seeing little tidbits of what could be or couldn't be looks at the HTC One M9's design, and the general consensus is that HTC is to refine the look of the One M8 and create something cut from the same cloth but sleeker, more elegant. One area of the device's design that is unavoidable but key, are the BoomSound speakers which create a taller device and depending on who you ask aren't the exactly the best features of the device's design. This time around, it looks like HTC is to refine the look of these speakers and streamline the overall design in the process.
We've heard and seen a number of prototype designs leak out and even some suspect photos over the last few weeks, but this latest render shows us what a new set of BoomSound speakers could look like. Surfacing on Chinese social media, this is a render put together with the latest leaks in mind, and could be our closest look at what the new design is to look like when the device launches soon. According to rumor, HTC is reportedly working with Bose this time around. If true, it could enable HTC to use smaller speaker components in the new HTC One device. Bose is a company known for getting a lot of sound out of very small speakers, so this would be a nice partnership if true. As for the render itself, there's no way of saying for sure if this is the real deal, but it sure looks like an HTC One device to us. This looks like a much sleeker direction for the One line though, and could result in less bezel at the top and bottom of the device.
There shouldn't be much longer to wait and see just what HTC have in store for us, and recycling the same design again wouldn't be the best choice they can make. Refining their curved back design while getting rid of clutter on the front of the device would be a great idea, and something I'm sure a lot of customers that passed on the One M8 (myself included) due to it being too tall and having too much bezel will welcome a sleeker design.
