There is no doubt about it, the last few months have been the era of the render. Normally at this time every year (the couple of weeks leading up to MWC in March) it would be expected that there would be leaked specs, maybe some images and the odd renders making their way online. That said, this year has been like no other. Of course, the upsurge in renders is not an unexpected thing. This year, we have two very prominent devices on the horizon in the form of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the HTC One M9. Both devices are highly anticipated and probably more importantly, both devices are highly rumored to be a ‘new’ device in terms of their design, look and performance.
With so much emphasis placed on a new look by Samsung and HTC, the renderers have had scope for imagination and creative license and that is exactly what seems to be happening. In fairness, the Samsung Galaxy S6 renders have been fairly consistent in their design and overall presentation. This does suggest that either they are very much informed on what is coming or all very much mistaken. However, the One M9 (or “hima” as it has come to be known) has seen quite sporadic differences in its rumored specs and therefore, renders.
That said, one commonality which has been consistently noted is what seems to be the stepping away by HTC from a dual camera. All the renders from the various case manufacturers do highly suggests that the new HTC flagship will indeed employ a single camera. That said, the reliability of the renders is debatable. Another consistently rumored feature of the One M9 is the realignment of the speakers to more of a slit presentation. In short, they have been moved and resemble far more of a sleeker look occupying the edges of both the top and bottom bezels. However, a large number of the same renders which show the single camera layout also show the One M8 type front facing grill speakers. So, it seems the reliability of the renders is still somewhat debatable at the moment. What do you think? Will the HTC One M9 definitely come with a single camera? Definitely not with front facing grill speakers? Let us know your predictions.
