If you are in the market for a new smartphone this year, you would be forgiven for thinking there are only two options on offer. It seems the tech world has gone into overdrive with two particular devices, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the HTC One M9. These two devices have been subject to intense speculation, rumors, leaked specs and renders. That said, these two devices are both being touted as a refresh compared to what both their predecessors, the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the HTC One M8 brought to the market. As such with both devices expected to arrive with very high-end features and both expected to be unveiled next month at MWC, the hype around them both is not that surprising.
However, once the devices are released, the big and immediate question which will be asked, is when will consumers be able to purchase them? At present, this is largely unknown. Well, this morning UK retailer, Carphone Warehouse opened their pre-registration page for the HTC One M9. To be clear, the registration page was for the "HTC One" although this is largely expected to be the HTC One M9. The registration page was setup to allow users to be the first to know information on the latest One and presumably, the first to know when it will be available to buy and how much it will cost.
The latest news is that Carphone Warehouse have also now opened their pre-registration page for the Samsung Galaxy S6. Well, again to be fair, the page does not reference the S6 directly and instead is for Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked Event, which is due to be held on March 1st at MWC. However, once again, it is largely expected that Samsung will be launching the S6 at this event. It is interesting to note that Carphone Warehouse do not seem to want to confirm the name of either device and simply instead refers to them as the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy. That said, similar to the HTC One page, the Galaxy page also allows users to sign-up and be the first to know when details from the event are made public.
