Roundabout this time last year, the news was reporting that Google had purchased Bitspin. The name of their acquisition might not immediately spring to mind, but you might of better known them as Timely, the android clock app. Well, that was this time last year. Fast forward twelve months and it seems Timely is literally getting an update. And a rather good one at that.
The first (and maybe most important) aspect of the update to note is for Lollipop users. If you are already on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and had been using Timely as your morning wake-up call then you might have noticed that it does not work so well. Some users noted force closures, others the alarm function not working, missed notifications, in short, it was not that good on Lollipop. Well, it seems this has now all been fixed in the latest update and Timely is once again, Lollipop compatible. Following on from this, a new feature which has been added to Timely in this update is the ability to customize. Up until now, when using Timely, you had to unfortunately, use their homegrown catalogue of sounds as your morning wake-up call. That has thankfully now changed and you can now choose one of your own sound pieces to be your alarm clock. To add to this, another new feature which has been introduced is compatible with Google Now. As a result, you can now set your alarm or general timers directly through Google Now, which is kinda sweet.
To add to the functionality which has been improved, it seems the update also includes a number of aesthetic upgrades too. For instance, there is now the ability to use coloured notifications, not to mention a coloured status and action bar. The overview headers will also be coloured and should match up nicely with the rest of your themed set-up. Of course, an update would not be an update without a load of minor bug fixes and performance improvements so you can expect them too. If you have not already downloaded Timely then you can by clicking here and heading over to the Play Store. Are you a Timely user? Seen the update yet? What do you think? Let us know
