Xiaomi Mi5 Plus Render Pops Up On Twitter, Will This Handset Launch Tomorrow?

Xiaomi's CEO, Lei Jun, has announced a while back that the company will launch their new flagship on January 15. The company has confirmed that fact several times after that through various teaser they've released. Some of those teasers revealed that one device that will be launched is the Redmi Note 2, but Xiaomi has also hinted that two handsets will be launched on the 15th. Everyone assumed that the company will launch the Mi4S / Mi5 next to the Redmi Note 2, it seems logical. There are some new developments here though.

The Xiaomi Mi5 Plus popped up online. @leaksfly has tweeted out a render of this device which is allegedly called the Mi5 Plus, which brings an extra layer of confusion here. The device in this render looks great, despite the fact we can only see the upper half of it. It has an extremely thin bezels and a curved glass on the sides, which actually remind me of another leaked image of the Mi5, even though these are not the same handsets, the are some differences, just take a look at the sensors and the camera above the display. This is the first time we hear about the "Mi5 Plus" name, so you can understand the confusion. Take this leak with a pinch of salt of course, it came out of nowhere and it doesn't make all that much sense, unless Xiaomi intends to launch this Mi5 Plus as a bigger variant of the Mi5, and then launch the Mi5 itself in a couple of months. That really doesn't make all that much sense to me, but we'll see.

Either way, Xiaomi's event is less than 24 hours away, so stay tuned for that, we should know everything there is to know about this device / these devices in less than a day. That being said, what do you think Xiaomi will launch tomorrow next to the Redmi Note 2? Will it be the Mi5, Mi5 Plus or the extremely cheap Leadcore-powered handset which got certified by TENAA recently?
