Sources Say Russia Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM -N900) Ready for its 5.0 Lollipop Update

Our friends over at SamMobile are reporting some news that is sure to upset the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 users - the older, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, is already receiving its 5.0 Lollipop least the Model SM-N900 sold in Russia.  Naturally, the newest Galaxy Note 4 owners were hoping for their Lollipop first, but this is also a sign that Samsung may finally be finished with tweaking the new Android OS and more updates will be on the way.

The new build number for the update is N900XXUEBOA6 and will bring you all of the goodies that a Lollipop can muster - improvements to ART runtime and performance, better battery life, compete overhaul of certain areas of the UI, such as the Settings app.  Throughout the redesigned TouchWiz, most Samsung apps and menus are now treated with Google's Material Design.  A Beta version leaked out a while back and SamMobile treated us with the video shown below.  It gives you a nice idea of what to expect when your Galaxy Note 3 receives its 5.0 Lollipop update.

Make sure that you keep you Galaxy Note 3 connected to a Wi-Fi network and you may be one of the first to receive the update notification.  You can also check under Settings -> About Phone -> Software update menu and let the phone search for it, although these are generally rolled out so you may have to try at another time.  The update is also available through Kies now, just be sure to carefully follow the instructions.  Firmware details for Model: SM-N900 are as follows: Model name: GALAXY Note 3 - Country: Russia - Version: Android 5.0 - Changelist: 3779962 - Build date: Tue, 13 Jan 2015 16:11:27 +0000 - Product Code: SER - PDA: N900XXUEBOA6 - CSC: N900SEREBOA6 - MODEM: N900XXUEBNL6.

I am not sure why Russia seems to get the goodies before the rest of the world - are they a testbed? But it is always nice to see an update rolling out to someone, because that should mean the rest of us cannot be far behind for our chance to experience a new upgrade.  It is always a thrill - almost like Christmas morning - when you receive that notice on your device that a new software upgrade is available and if you want to wait or download now...waiting is not an option with me, how about you? Please hit us up on our Google+ Page and let us know when you get the always, we would love to hear from you.  In the meantime, checkout the video to wet your appetite.
