Rumor: Meizu And Nokia Are Working On A New And Improved MX4 Handset

AH Meizu MX4 3

Rumors are all around us in this business, most of them usually turn out to be false, but some of them do bring forth real information regarding the upcoming products. It’s hard to differentiate between them sometimes, unusual partnerships are highly likely in this sort of business. Well, the latest product of the rumor mill machine says that Meizu and Nokia are looking to partner up, sounds highly unlikely? That’s because it is, but as I said, anything is possible. Anyhow, let’s see what’s this all about, shall we.

According to various Chinese portals, Meizu is rumored to be working with Nokia on producing a new, international version of Meizu’s MX4 handset. This thing is allegedly codenamed “Supreme” and will keep the same hardware as the original. The handset will, however, be redesigned by Nokia in terms of software and perhaps they change up the design a bit. This phone might sports some sort of Nokia’s software according to the rumor, and this Finland-based company will also optimize the software for that 20.7-megapixel snapper that is included in the MX4 handset.

This rumor didn’t reveal any additional details about the device though, presuming this is true, we have no idea if this will be a Meizu or Nokia-branded product. I suggest you take this rumor with a pinch of salt, the likeliness of it is… well, it probably won’t happen. Meizu is doing just fine on its own and the company has recently signed a contract with Canonical, so we can expect an Ubuntu Touch-powered Meizu handset in Europe soon. I doubt Meizu is looking for another such partner, but who knows. Nokia is enjoying significant success with their N1 tablet in China, an extremely affordable device which does offer a lot of punch for that kind of cash. That tablet is expected to launch in Europe next month, and Nokia is also rumored to be working on their own device, the C1.

What are your thoughts here, do you think this rumor is true, will Meizu and Nokia partner up in the end? Let us know what you think.
