Leaked Images Allegedly Show Off Huawei's Upcoming Mate 7 Compact Device

A couple of days ago it was reported that there was a rumor Huawei would be unveiling the Mate 7 compact handset at the upcoming Mobile World Congress convention that happens at the end of next month. While we still don't know if Huawei will really show of the phone at the MWC 2015, we can imagine what it would look like if they did as these supposed image leaks of the device allow our imaginations to go to work. In these leaked pictures from a Twitter leaker named leaksify, we get a glimpse at what the smaller version of Huawei's Ascend Mate 7 might look like, although remember these aren't official.

If Huawei brings the Mate 7 Compact to Barcelona, they'll be showing off this new smaller device alongside OEM heavyweights like Samsung and HTC which are both also expected to unveil their 2015 flagship smartphones at the event, just like they did for the year of 2014. For those who have seen our Ascend Mate 7 review, you'll know that the screen is fairly massive coming in at 6-inches, and although compact usually refers to devices with screen sizes around the 4.7-inch and below mark in contrast to their bigger brothers, the Ascend Mate 7 is not your typical smartphone display size so compact may still not be so compact. No details have been given on the device, but we'd speculate that the Mate 7 Compact could come with a display size larger than 5-inches, although we'll just have to wait and see.

We also expect that Huawei will likely keep most of the other specs intact, like possibly the same quality rear and front facing cameras as seen on the Ascend Mate 7. As far as the battery goes, it's very unlikely that Huawei would include the same size battery with the Mate 7 Compact as there would be no need due to the smaller display size, and possibly less powerful processor. Mobile World Congress is only about a month away so we won't have to wait too much longer before we potentially find out any official details. If anything else pops up on this device before then, whether official or leaks, we'll be sure to keep you posted.
