Yu Yureka is a really interesting smartphone. Yu is actually a Micromax-owned brand and Yureka is their first smartphone. This Indian-based company has signed a contract with Cyanogen which gave them exclusive rights to use Cyanogen in India, all this happened after the whole OnePlus and Cyanogen fallout. Either way, OnePlus is working on a new OS for their OnePlus Two handset, and Cyanogen OS has moved to Yureka. That's basically all you need to know, I could type all day talking about the relationship between these three (well, four) companies.
Let's turn our attention to the device itself, Yureka is a really, really solid mid-range handset. It becomes far more appealing if you consider its price point, this thing costs only Rs. 8,999 in India and it offers a lot for that price. Yu sold 10,000 Yureka units in just 3 seconds last Tuesday, that was their first flash sale, the second batch of these devices will be available on January 22nd. Amazon.in has opened up registrations for the second sale, in case you live in India and are interested in getting this device. All, you have to do, is click "subscribe" and you'll be registered for the flash sale which will take place in less than a week.
Yu Yureka features a 5.5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS display, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card). This handset is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 615 SoC, a 64-bit octa-core processor which comes with an Adreno 405 GPU for graphics rendering. 13 and 5-megapixel cameras are available on the back and front of this device, respectively. LED flash is also a part of the package, and it is located at the back of this phone. 2,500mAh battery ships with this device and Android 4.4 KitKat comes pre-installed here with Cyanogen OS 11 on top of it. This handset supports Cat.4 LTE and includes TDD B40 2,300MHz and FDD B3 1800MHz bands for India.
Neither Yu nor Amazon revealed the number of units that will be available during the second flash sale, but we'll find out that soon, probably after the registrations close. Anyone interested in this device, do you plan to purchase it?
