Now all the huffing and puffing from CES is done and dusted, it is time to move on...to MWC. Yep, in a matter of weeks (March actually), all the event stuff will begin again, with plenty more announcements, rumors squashed and specialization banished. Once more, we will get to see what is en route, what is new and what we won't get to see for another few months. Two companies in particular seem to be planning on hitting MWC hard and fast and as such big things are expected from both. So to give you a quick heads up, let's take a quick look at what is expected to be showcased from Samsung and HTC.
First up, the biggie, Sammy, Samsung. Everyone loves (and loves to hate) Samsung. This is probably inevitable as they are the world's largest android manufacturer. With that kinda tag attached big things are expected and big things we should get. The one everyone will be waiting to be unveiled is the Samsung Galaxy S6. This is the big phone of the first half of the year. It always is. That said, this year is different as Samsung has a lot to lose. People criticized the Galaxy S5 for being too plastic. As such it is largely being rumored that the S6 will come with a metal frame. Whether this is a full-bodied metal smartphone like the Samsung Galaxy Alpha or just metal accents and rim like the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is unclear. The latest on the S6 front came yesterday when it was suggested that the S6 will come with a 2K display and 64-bit processor. However, that is not all the S6 expectations, as there is also rumors that a second variant of the S6 will be making an appearance in the form of the 'S6 Edge'. Well, it might not be called that, but you get the point. If all that was not enough then recently there was also rumors that Samsung will be unveiling a round Moto 360 like smartwatch to add to its ever-growing wearables collection.
But MWC won't be all the Samsung show. We know for a fact HTC will be in attendance, as only tyesterday they send out their press release telling the world that. So what will HTC be offering? Well, it is largely expected that the latest in the HTC One family of devices will be launched. The HTC One M9, "hima" or whatever it will be called is expected to make an appearance. Now, over the last few weeks a lot of the rumors have been contradictory. That said, the latest suggests the newest HTC One will come with 2GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and a 20MP Sony Camera. What is possibly more interesting though is that only a few days ago, a rumor came to light that there might even be two versions of the device. The second being the HTC Hima Ace Plus. This is rumored to be a phablet version of the HTC One M9 and will come with a 5.5" QHD (2560 x 1440) display. Inside, the Hima Ace Plus is reported to come loaded with 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage and a Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor (clocking at 2.3GHz). In terms of camera, there will be a 20MP rear shooter along with a 4MP front-facing option. Not to mention the device will come powered by a 3,000mAh battery, have a fingerprint scanner and come running on android 5.0 (Lollipop) with Sense 7 UI on too. Of course, there will be a whole bunch of other announcements to come at MWC and possibly some other big ones too like the Sony Xperia Z4. However, it feels like most eyes will be on Samsung and HTC at this year's event. So, what will you be looking out for at MWC? Let us know.
Of course, there will be a whole bunch of other announcements to come at MWC and possibly some other big ones too like the Sony Xperia Z4. Not forgetting, that all we are already expecting, could be completely wrong. That said, we won't have too long to wait to find out and once it does start, it is expected most eyes will be firmly fixed on Samsung and HTC at this year's event. So, what will you be looking out for at MWC? Let us know.
