Desai Mirror X5 Is The Cheapest Sapphire Glass Smartphone Available Out There

China is home to many, many smartphone manufacturers. We've seen a ton of phones released there last year, some of which were really interesting and we did our best to present them to you. Xiaomi, Meizu and Huawei are definitely on the right path and did a great job in 2014, I do expect this trend to continue in 2015. From time to time, a rather unknown smartphone vendor comes forth and present something that is worth taking a look, like today for example. Desai is, well, not many people heard about that company, and they release a smartphone covered with sapphire glass protection on the front, let's take a look.

We've already seen several companies use sapphire to protect the display on their smartphones instead of Gorilla Glass or something else. This is not only a good way to protect your display, but is also a great marketing stunt if you ask me. You will get a good reaction from consumers if they hear that the device has sapphire on top of the display in order to protect it, the word "sapphire" on its own is a powerful marketing tool. Huawei released a sapphire version of their Ascend P7 handset, Kyocera and Oppo did the same in the past, so Desai is definitely not the first. This company did, however, unveil their Mirror X5 handset in China and priced it really low, it costs only $160. I do believe this is the cheapest smartphone to offer sapphire screen though.

The Desai Mirror X5 features a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. This handset is powered by quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and it comes with Android 4.4 KitKat pre-installed. 13 and 5-megapixel cameras are located at the back and front of this device, respectively. 2,050mAh battery comes with this device and the handset offers TD-LTE support and works on China Mobile's GSM network at the moment. The company did open online reservations for this handset, which is China's version of pre-orders. They are accepting reservations for 10,000 units and I'm sure some consumers will be more than interested in getting one.

This device's specifications look alright and if you just need to have a sapphire on your phone, you might consider getting one of these, you won't be able to find a cheaper phone to offers sapphire glass protection.
