Belkin was one of the first companies to really start the whole "connected home" thing. And their WeMo line has been super popular. Right now, CES Unveiled is going on in Las Vegas so we're going to see all kinds of gadgets like this in the next few hours. Belkin has announced four new sensors that are being added to their WeMo lineup this evening. So what are they? Well there are door and window sensors, also a keychain sensor used for detecting presence and an alarm sensor to detect the sound of smoke alarms and finally an infrared sensor that detects heat signatures for precise, room motion detection. Consumers will be able to pick these up later this year. No word on when exactly, nor the pricing on these.
These are some great additions to the ever growing WeMo line of products from Belkin. If you haven't had a chance to check out the WeMo line of connected products yet from Belkin, you'll want to definitely check them out. The Belkin's WeMo is also open and works with other products that is not made by Belkin, which is likely a huge reason that they are so popular.
The most interesting part is the water leak detection. It'll rely less on a moisture trigger and more on algorithms that understand how your house uses water. It's very similar to the Soneter water sensor system that AT&T uses in their Smart home system, which is sold in their stores.
If you are at CES this week, make sure you stop by Belkin's booth and check out the WeMo line of connected products. I think you'll be amazed. How many of you already use Belkin's WeMo products in your house? What do you think of them? Let us know in the comments down below.
