These days it can be pretty hard to stay fit, temptation is everywhere and despite governments and companies waking up to the fact that copious amounts of sugar means we’re more likely to gain weight, it’s still difficult to watch what we’re eating 24/7. Never fear though, our smartphones are here to help. Exercise is the key to keeping the pounds off and staying in shape, but it’s no fun doing it the oldfashioned way. Now, there are apps that encourage us and empower us to keep going, to keep on trying. These are the best of those apps from the past year.
Winner – Runtastic
Runtastic is more than just an app for Android, it’s a whole social network, a way of pushing you forward. Not only does Runtastic give you accurate details on your runs, walks and cycling activities using just your phone alone, it also logs these online. This is the key feature here, as it allows you to see how you’ve improved, how your times have changed and you can even log your moods after an activity. So, after a few months of running, you can look back and see how quickly you can do a similar run and how bad it was at the beginning. Runtastic is all about getting fit, and staying fit. It’s also an excellent companion for smartwatches and fitness trackers.
Runner Up – 7 Minute Workout
We’re busy people, and whether it’s work, the kids, looking after family or just having too much fun it can be tough to fit in regular exercise. With 7 Minute workout though, you only need to find a little bit of time every day to keep yourself in shape. While this might not be the be-all and end-all to your fitness worries, 7 Minute Workout is a way to keep you healthy and fit. Little and often is the best way to condition yourself for bigger things, and after a little while you should definitely notice a change.
