Xiaomi's Alleged MiPad 2 Images Leak And Show Off Tablet's Partial Specs

Xiaomi is all over the place today, we're getting a ton of reports / rumors regarding this Chinese smartphone OEM. Some images leaked earlier allegedly showing one of Xiaomi's upcoming handsets, though we don't know which one. A rather interesting rumor came our way today as well, touting Xiaomi's very own operating system, although that rumor is rather far-fetched, it's always interesting to hear something like that. It's time to cover some Xiaomi tablet rumors.

MiPad is Xiaomi's tablet offering, it's really solid Tegra K1-powered tablet which offers some solid specs and is very affordable, as are all Xiaomi devices. Alleged MiPad 2 surfaced on Weibo (China's social network) revealing its specs as well, so let's check it out. According to this leak, the MiPad 2 will feature a 7.9-inch retina display, just like the current-gen tablet by Xiaomi. 2GB of RAM and 16GB of in-built storage will also be a part of this device and judging by the picture, the tablet will run Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Xiaomi's MIUI on top of it. Nvidia's Tegra K1 chip will get replaced by Intel's Atom chip clocked at 1.8GHz.

I really don't think this leak is legit though, there's no "Mi" branding on the tablet itself as far as I can see and this thing looks far different than the current-gen MiPad, it also looks too… well, ordinary, it's plane-looking. Xiaomi's MiPad tablet was launched back in March, so the company is due to an upgrade in Q1 2015, but I really don't doubt this is the tablet they'll launch, it just doesn't look like it. Perhaps this is a reference hardware of some sort of something. We'll hopefully get more information about the upcoming MiPad in the coming weeks and might be able to put this into perspective.

Anyhow, do you own, or did you have the chance to play around with Xiaomi's MiPad tablet? Do you think this is its successor? Let us know what you think in the comments down below or via social networks, we'd love to hear from you, as always.
