Xiaomi Redmi 1S was one of Xiaomi's best selling handsets this year, well, perhaps even the best selling one. This is a Snapdragon 400-powered handset which also comes with 1GB of RAM and a 4.7-inch 720p display, while the most interesting factor here is its price. This is a mid-range handset which comes with a low-end price in a way and no wonder many people jumped at a chance to purchase it, especially in China and India where Xiaomi is selling their devices, though people outside of Asia managed to get their hands on it through various resellers.
The Redmi 2S, or what seems like it, got certified by TENAA already a while back and also popped up on AnTuTu benchmarks. Some rumors were saying that this device will launch before the end of the year, which is also a possibility, though that would mean it will launch in the next couple of days and I somehow doubt that. Anyhow, this handset just surfaced in China yet again, this time it carries a fingerprint scanner on the back. This actually seems to be Focaltech showing off their latest fingerprint scanner in action, but it seems like it's attached to the Redmi 2S or something that look an awful lot like it. This could end up being just a reference hardware or something of the sort, but the resemblance to the Redmi 1S is uncanny. Is it possible that Xiaomi plans to include a fingerprint scanner on the Redmi 2S and by doing that bring that technology to the extremely affordable range of devices? I guess we'll find out soon, but let us know what you think.
According to TENAA, Xiaomi's Redmi 2S will feature a 4.7-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 1GB of RAM. Qualcomm's 64-bit Snapdragon 410 quad-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz will power on this handset along with the Adreno 306 GPU which will be in charge of graphics rendering. Android 4.4 KitKat will come pre-installed on this device with Xiaomi's MIUI on top of it. On the back of this handset, you'll be able to find an 8-megapixel snapper and an LED flash next to it and a 2-megapixel shooter will be available on the front side of this handset.
