Looks Like There Probably Won't Be A Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge After All

Samsung has not been shy in going forward this year. There has been a lot of talk in recent times that the South Korean tech giant (and their products) had become a little stagnant and their devices starting to lag behind the times. However, 2014 was a good year for the Samsung R&D department and this did manage to show their worth. This was the year Samsung brought five wearables to the market. Yep five! This was also the year the company retaliated to its 'plasticky' criticisms by manufacturing their first all-metal device. Not to mention this was also the year we got to see some of the new tech, like the Samsung Gear VR hit the market.

That said, the Samsung piece of equipment which really grabbed everyone's attention this year was the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. This was a really different smartphone. Its functions were generally the same as everything else out there, but that additional screen running down the edge did add flavor to the device that we have not seen elsewhere. For those that liked the look of the Note Edge, but do not like the size of the Note range in general, probably would have been pleased to hear the recent rumors that it looked like Samsung were going to make an Edge version of the Samsung Galaxy S6. Well, if that was you then it looks like there is some bad news.

Reports coming in this morning are suggesting that a Galaxy S6 Edge is not on the cards. An inside source has revealed to Sammobile that this is not likely to happen and there will be no S6 Edge. According to the reports, there is still a new variant of the S6 is in the works but it looks certain it will not contain the interesting Edge. Either way though, it really will be interesting to see what comes from the S6. With a pre-release codename like 'Project Zero' you would expect great things. Samsung seems intent on starting 2015 as they finished 2014 with an emphasis on 'new' and 'fresh'. Either way though, whatever the S6 looks like, it is unlikely we will be seeing an Edge.
