Lollipop season is thoroughly under way at the moment and updates are everywhere. Over the last couple of days, there has been a number of things happening. If it was not bad enough that Nexus devices already had Android 5.0 (Lollipop) running, then it seems even more harder to accept that they are already getting an update for Lollipop, which takes them from Android 5.0 to 5.0.1. You can tell I am not a Nexus owner. Not to mention, yesterday the Samsung Galaxy S5 very unexpectedly started to get the Lollipop update rolling out to it. Even more unexpectedly was that the roll-out began in Poland.
Anyway, it seems the Lollipop update is not finished there. As equally as unexpectedly as the Galaxy S5, it now seems the HTC One M8 Google Play Edition (GPe) is about to get the update too. Yes, just like the S5, the news of the One M8 has come out of nowhere. Well, to be clear it has come from Twitter. Mo Versi the VP of Product Management at HTC, announced within the hour that the roll out of the GPe edition of the One M8 has finally been approved and is en-route. If you are a GPe One M8 owner then you are probably itching for this update. Like the Nexus devices, GPe's are typically expected to get preferential treatment from Google with updates (although in fairness due to how close to stock they are and not because Google loves them more than other OEMs). However, it seems the update hit a few stop signs on its way and was delayed by quite a bit.
That said, the delay is over. If you are a HTC One M8 GPe owner then get ready. The Lollipop update will begin rolling out tomorrow (December 5th) at noon (12pm) PST time. Are you a One M8 GPe owner? Happy now? You can tell I don't own one of these too. What about the non-GPe M8 owners out there? How do you feel about this? Don't worry too much. Chances are your update is not that far behind. Whatever you thoughts let us know. Also, make sure to let us know when you receive the update tomorrow and your thoughts on Lollipop.
