Deal: Amazon's 8.9-inch Fire HDX 30% Off for Today Only

It seems like Amazon is really interested in pushing their Fire line of tablets this Holiday Season and while they've arguably started a little too late, with a deal like this we can't complain too much. Today's Gold Box deal from Amazon is on the Fire HDX, the larger 8.9-inch tablet and selected versions have 30% off of their base price. Which basically means you can get either a 32 or 64GB model, with or without LTE, forget the ads and still pay less than you normally would.

That means you can get a 32GB WiFi model for $299 with special offers, or ads as we like to call them, or $309 without them. For a tablet with an 8.9-inch 2560 x 1600 display that's praised for its color accuracy isn't too bad at all. Plus, the Snapdragon 801 and 2GB of RAM under the hood really doesn't hurt, either. While these are Amazon tablets, and that means that there's no Google services as there would be with something like the Nexus 9 or Galaxy Tab S, the online giant does have a lot on offer these days. Many of the same apps and games are present and if you're an Amazon Prime member you can access all sorts of TV shows and movies from this guy.

If you're all about consuming content on your tablet, reading magazines, watching movies, watching TV, then Amazon's Fire HDX is a decent option. Especially at this sort of price, and let's not forget one of these would make a nice last-minute gift and yes, Amazon will deliver before the day (depending on where you are of course).

For years now I've had a heavy interest in technology, growing up with 8-bit computers and gaming consoles has fed into an addiction to everything that beeps. Android saved me from the boredom of iOS years ago and I love watching the platform grow. As an avid reader and writer nothing pleases me more than to write about the exciting world of Android, Google and mobile technology as a whole.
