AH Awards 2014: Best Icon Pack Of The Year

Icon packs are another wonderful way to customize your app drawer and homescreen on your Android device, and what's awesome is that many of the top home launcher apps support the use of custom icon packs. There are tons and tons of different icon packs available, and here are our picks for the best icon pack of the year along with the runner up and the honorable mention. There were many great candidates but these were the creme of the crop in our opinion. Check them out.

Runner Up - Numix Circle

This is a free and open source icon pack with over 250+ icons and growing. All the icons are, as the name suggests, a circle shape, with a rather flat style as this seems to have been the popular icon theme this year. The style here is simplistic but still looks great. You can also request specific icons if you don't see one you want in the pack already. Numix Circle is free and you can check them out for yourself at the download link in the Play Store.

Winner - Moonshine

It was tough to pick a winner because there were so many good icon packs out there, but Moonshine from Valiant Pixels was our favorite of the year. While this does follow the flat design to some degree, it more closely follows the design guidelines of the Material Design style we see from icons made for Android 5.0 Lollipop. There are over 660+ icons and growing here, with a colorful, bold style that pops off of the screen, all vector made in XXX-HDPI resolution and wrapped up into an easy to use dashboard where you can apply the pack per your launcher of choice. It also includes 20 homemade cloud based wallpapers that go rather well with the icon style in this pack, and more new icons are added in via the Bi-Weekly/Monthly updates. The Dashboard app for applying the icons is Material Design too, so you get even more Lollipop style. Moonshine works with most major and popular launchers like Nova, Apex, ADW, Smart, Action and tons more. Moonshine is also free, and you can check the icon pack out for yourself at the download link in the Play Store.
