When this week began, Black Friday fever was well underway. That said, we were still days away from the biggie deals. Now as we have reached the mid-week it seems like some sweet deals are starting to land. If you are an HTC fan or a selfie fanatic then you very well may want to pay attention to this one. Do you remember back at HTC's special 'Double Exposure' event they released a number of camera based items? Well, if you do, chances are the one that really caught your attention was HTC's RE camera. This was very much unlike most products we have seen coming out recently.
As a brief recap the RE camera is kind of like an alternative to GoPro. However, it does not look anything like a GoPro or any other camera for that matter. Instead, the baby periscope-like device is a handheld (or wearable) camera attachment for your smartphone. It is compatible with almost any android device running Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) or higher. The main aspect of the RE is the 16MP camera with ½.3" CMOS sensor (146 degree wide angle lens). To add to this, the camera on the RE is effectively 'always-on' and ready to capture the moment when needed. To take a picture you simply hit the small metal pad on the RE's bend and the capacitive sensor captures the moment. As you would expect with most modern cameras, the RE captures film as well…and in 1080p. To start recording you simply hold down the same metal pad and your adventures can begin. If you need some more information then the camera measures 96.7 x 26.5mm, can take 1200 photos or shoot 100 minutes of video and is powered by a 920mAh battery. For 1200 pictures you will need a decent amount of space and the RE comes with 8GB as standard. Although this is via an external microSD card which can be replaced with a bigger card if needed (up to 128GB). For the more adventurous, the RE is waterproof (IP57) and can be used to record video underwater.
Starting from 9pm (PT) on Thanksgiving and through until 9pm (PT) on Cyber Monday, you can pick up HTC's new RE camera with a big discount. In fact, the discount is a whopping 50% off. Those kind of double digit discounts brings the cost of the RE down from $199.99 to only $99.99. If you were previously tempted by the RE camera then this should be enough to finally push you over the edge and to 'add to cart'. If that is you, then you can pick up the reduced RE camera from HTC's Hot deals. You know, the one you have been constantly checking on Tuesday's to get hold of a Nexus 9. Alternatively, the reduced RE camera should be available online through Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Best Buy. If you simply cannot wait for delivery then the RE will also be available at Verizon, AT&T and Best Buy stores. However, it is worth noting that this is a 'while stocks last' type deal and knowing how the previously HTC deals have gone recently, stocks might not last very long. If that is the case, then it is always worth giving Amazon a try. So will you be picking up the RE this Black Friday? Let us know.
