The OnePlus One is one of the hottest smartphones around at the moment. This seems to be the result of a two pronged situation. On one hand the device offers top of the range specs but at half the cost of any of the flagship devices. While on the other hand, the OnePlus One is a device which has become infamously unattainable due to an invite needed to purchase. This combination between cheap price/high spec and inability to purchase has brought the device more attention than even the makers OnePlus expected. Another aspect OnePlus did not expect when they launched the One was the interest it would receive from India. When the device was first unveiled it was limited to only a few countries and India was not one of them. Since then, India has ranked as one of the countries which has shown the greatest level of interest.
After this unexpected interest OnePlus duly announced that the One would become available in India. More recently, rumors suggested that the device would become available to purchase in India from December. While, even more recently it was announced OnePlus would again employ the invite system which came as a big surprise to everyone. If that was not enough and as December rolls closer there seems to be another twist in the India chapter of the OnePlus saga. Thanks to a strange teaser advert which has popped up on the Indian branch of Amazon.
The teaser shows what is almost certainly a OnePlus One. If you are under any doubt this is the One, you only need to read between the lines. Firstly the image clearly shows the sandstone back of the device. Secondly, the advert comes with the tag "The smartphone you have been waiting for". Thirdly, the teaser ends with "Tweet #TheOneThing". What is even more interesting though is the advert clearly indicates the device in question is an "Amazon Exclusive". The invite system is almost certainly going to be in effect in India as OnePlus have announced this. However, if this advert is anything to go by, then it seems the One might also be available to purchase in India via Amazon. No further details are provided on the Amazon teaser page and as such information on availability and prices is non-existent. Either way though, via invite or Amazon the debut of the One in India looks to be even closer. Are you based in India? Will you be picking the One up when it lands? Let us know.
