Verizon just sent us an invitation to an event in a couple of weeks in New York City. It's for the announcing of their new DROID Turbo, as the invite says "Join Verizon Wireless as we introduce the newest DROID." The event is on October 28th, and we don't know a whole lot more than that. It might be a full blown event like HTC did for their RE camera and the HTC Desire EYE, or it could be a small one like Sony's event for the Xperia Z3v. We'll have to keep our eye out for that.
It's been a while since we've had a new DROID device from Motorola and Verizon. But we have been seeing leaks for the DROID Turbo lately, which show it to be a pretty spectacular device with a QHD display, 3GB of RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor inside, and a 20.7MP camera on the back. It's basically what we wish the Moto X was. Of course, there will be a big battery, and it'll be a fast charging one as well. Motorola is also rumored to be including their new Turbo charger in with the DROID Turbo. But I guess we'll see all of that unfold on October 28th from New York City.
So now that we have an official announcement date. What else are we waiting on? Oh yeah, the launch date, right? Well hopefully Verizon will have it available in stores the same day that it's announced. That would be really ideal, as it'll be in stores ahead of the holiday season which is the biggest time of year for Verizon and any other OEM and carrier. We'll likely be there to see what Verizon has in store for us this time around with the DROID Turbo. How many of you are interested in the DROID Turbo this year? Let us know in the comments below.
