We just reported yesterday that the new Sony Xperia Z3 would be making its way to Canada on October 31, via a leaked screenshot from the computer. It also told us that pricing on Rogers' network would be $599.99 off-contract and $179.99 on a 2-year term. Today, we heard it direct from the 'horse's mouth' – Sony of Canada, that it is available to pre-order now for $699.99 for an October 31 delivery…and you can get either Black, Copper or White. It is a shame because that silver-green is an awesome color…maybe it is reserved as an exclusive color for a carrier. It is so great to finally see a Sony flagship get off to a good start, at least in availability…and hopefully, sales will follow as well. The price of $180 on a 2-year term is surprising as well – much cheaper than we have come to expect from Sony. A beautiful glass and metal device, it has the real look and feel of a premium smartphone.
The Xperia Z3 comes to us with a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 with 424 pixels-per inch (PPI). It is powered by the venerable Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz. It is also packing 3GB of RAM and either 16GB or 32GB of internal memory – there is a microSD card slot to add an additional 128GB of storage…plenty of room to store all of your pictures, videos and music files. Another area that the Xperia Z3 shines is in the camera area where the main shooter has a 20.7MP, 25mm wide-angle lens with auto focus and LED Flash. With the wide-angle lens, you can capture more of the scenery or more people in your shot – you will be the hit at the family reunions. The Z3 also receives a hefty 3100mAh battery that should easily last you through the entire workday. The device measures 146 x 72 x a slim 7.2mm and weighs in at 152 grams.
Its predecessor, the Xperia Z2 was the identical price, so it will either drop out of the system or else the carriers will have to give it a hefty discount. The Sony Xperia Z3 Compact is also coming soon to Canada for the unlocked price of $599.99, so you may have a few decisions to make. Please hook up with us on our Google+ Page and let us know what you think of the new smartphones from Sony and if you will be picking one up…as always, we would love to hear from you.
