The Google Nexus 6 pre-orders aren’t quite ready, we still have some time to wait. The good news is that they aren’t that far off and the phone will be available on a very wide variety of carriers and through various retailers both online and in store at brick and mortar locations. Although there was some skepticism about whether or not Verizon Wireless would be carrying the Google Nexus 6 or not, rest assured that if you’re a VZW customer and you were hoping to get your hands on an official Verizon model of this device, you will have that capability as Verizon has confirmed to Droid Life that they will be carrying the phone. That means all the latest that Android has to offer with 5.0 Lollipop and all the goodies like the 13MP camera with LED flash ring, the large 5.9-inch QHD AMOLED display, the 16GB or 32GB of internal storage and that Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 CPU for fast and powerful performance.
Think of this as more of PSA as we knew from October 15th’s announcement from Google that Verizon would be carrying the device, thanks to the VZW logo that was posted to the Nexus 6 landing page along with the other carriers and retailers. If you had any doubts though, here you go. This serves as your proof. What does this mean for Verizon subscribers and getting the latest updates? We’re not exactly sure about that at this point, unfortunately, as Verizon wasn’t able to share any details regarding the matter. We don’t blame people for being skeptical on that front either though as Verizon didn’t exactly have a stellar record for Android OS software updates when it came to the Galaxy Nexus or the Nexus 7 2nd Gen.
Hopefully, when the phone launches on Big Red’s network we can expect them to live up to Google’s timeframe for prompt and timely updates as they hit all other versions, we don’t know for certain though. One thing is certain however, and that’s the fact that Verizon has a huge opportunity here to make a good impression on subscribers who have been weary about using a Nexus device on their network because of the update issues. There’s still no word on pricing or exact availability dates from Verizon Wireless, but we will be sure to update you when that information becomes available to us. Are you currently a Verizon Wireless subscriber? If so are you excited for the Nexus 6 and will you be picking one up?
