MetroPCS is now selling the Alcatel Fierce 2, with a 5-inch screen and a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor. The Fierce 2 has a qHD display, a 5-megapixel auto-focus camera on the back, a VGA camera on the front, 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of on-board storage. There's a microSD card slot that allows you to add an additional 32GB of storage. The 2,000 mAh battery should get you through a full day, especially with the lower resolution display on this phone. It's also running Android 4.4 KitKat, so it has that going for it.
Alcatel and T-Mobile launched the Fierce 2 back in September, and Alcatel has been dropping low-end phones at Walmart recently too. They aren't flashy and they certainly don't provide high-end specs, but they are inexpensive. They dropped the OneTouch Pop Mega LTE on us just yesterday. It has a The 6-inch qHD display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. It is powered by a quad-core processor, clocked at 1.2GHz and has 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage. There is also 32GB microSD card slot in it, just like in the Fierce 2. The Pop Mega LTE is only available at Walmart on Straight Talk, and it is priced at $249. AT&T even launched the budget Alcatel OneTouch C1 at the beginning of the month. Again, nothing mind blowing about these phones, but they do provide some low-cost Android options to those that need them.
The Alcatel Fierce 2 is available on MetroPCS right now. It will only cost you $49 up front because MetroPCS is running a promotion right now that gives you an instant discount of $100. If you're in the market for a budget handset, this is not a bad option. $49 is less than most monthly plans cost with U.S wireless carriers. On MetroPCS, that will net you an Android device running Android 4.4 KitKat.
