HTC Says Unlocked One M8 Will Receive Eye Experience and 4.4.4 Update Tomorrow

When HTC revealed their Desire Eye smartphone last week, selfie lovers everywhere rejoiced because of its powerful 13 MP front facing camera. Along with the Desire Eye, HTC revealed a suite of features to go along with its solid front facing shooter. These features are a part of what HTC is calling the Eye Experience. The HTC Eye Experience contains features such as Face Tracking, Screen Share, Split Capture, Face Fusion, Live Makeup, Auto Selfie, Voice Selfie, Photo Booth and Crop Me In. Face Tracking keeps track of up to four different faces in a photo or video.

Screen Share helps users share their screen with others. Split Capture allows users to combine photos and videos from both the front and rear facing cameras into one picture or video. Live Makeup is an editing feature that helps improve facial features and appearance. Voice Selfie will capture a selfie using only voice commands and Crop Me In crops a person from an image or video taken using the front facing camera into the scene being captured by the rear shooter. HTC went on to say that the Eye Experience would not be exclusive to the Desire Eye smartphone and that it would soon roll out the software to several other devices including the HTC One M7, One M8, One E8, One Mini, One Mini 2, One Max, Desire 816, HTC Desire 820 and HTC Butterfly 2.

They didn't provide a specific timeline for exactly when these devices will receive the update but it looks some lucky HTC users will see the Eye Experience on their phones as early as this week. According to the Twitter account of an HTC staffer, owners of an unlocked HTC One M8 can expect to receive the update tomorrow. Along with the updated camera settings, this Twitter account also revealed that these same people can expect to see their devices updated to Android KitKat 4.4.4. The fact that HTC has managed to roll out the Eye Experience update so quickly should come as no surprise as they have routinely done a great job with releasing updates in a timely fashion. If you're one of the lucky unlocked HTC One M8 users to get these updates please let us know in the comments below.
