HTC has had a hard time turning profit in the last… well, a long time. They manage to do it from time to time, usually a quarter when they introduce their new flagship (as it was the case with the One M8) or they do something out of the ordinary. HTC actually decided to re-structure to some extent and they cut costs recently which turned out to be a smart move considering the company turned profit in Q3 thanks to those choices. This however is not the solution to their problems, HTC is still not selling enough devices and they have to change that somehow. The company recently did something un-typical and introduced HTC Desire Eye and a RE Camera, they surprised many people by doing this, it seems like HTC is really thinking outside the box. HTC Desire Eye is the ultimate selfie device considering it sports 2 13-megapixel sensors and the RE camera (action cam) is expected to be a direct competitor to GoPro action cam, it will be interesting to see how those two compare.
Other than releasing odd devices, HTC is pushing a ton of smartphones to the market, I guess they're trying to find their way or something. There's also a possibility that HTC wants to saturate the market with its products and try to raise brand awareness that way, who knows. Either way, one of their devices popped up on AnTuTu benchmarks recently, D820us. A similar device, D820mu, popped up on TENAA (China's equivalent of the FCC) now. TENAA's listing somewhat differs to what we've seen the other day though. According to this listing D820mu will sport a 5-inch screen 720p display and will be equipped with a quad-core chip clocked at 1.2GHz, while D820us AnTuTu listing was pointing towards a 5.5-inch display and a quad-core processor. These are significant differences (click on D820us AnTuTu link to find out more about that device), it seems like HTC will release 2 Desire devices to Chinese market soon. TENAA's listing also says that D820mu will come with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable internal storage. 8-megapixel camera will be this device's main shooter while a 5-megapixel snapper will be located up front. D820mu will come pre-installed with Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS with HTC's Sense UI on top of it. This is also a 4G LTE device. D820mu will measure 150.1 x 72.7 x 9.6mm and weight 162.3 grams according to this filling.
Both of these devices can be considered mid-range smartphones, though D820us will be a more capable device, judging by these listings. Anyhow, D820mu will presumably hit the market soon considering it went through TENAA already, D820us will soon follow I guess.
