Happy Nexus day, everyone! Google announced the Google Nexus 6, the Google Nexus 9, and a new TV box called the Nexus Player at around 12pm Eastern Time today. Along with the new devices, they have unleashed a bunch of new videos as well. Some of these will end up as television advertisements I'm sure. Some of them will just be fun videos to watch on YouTube. We grabbed them all and put them here for you to enjoy.
The Nexus 6 is a giant, 5.9 smartphone with a Quad HD display and a Snapdragon 805 chipset. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, and a 3220 mAh battery. This is a giant Moto X with better specs. Google is unfortunately bailing on their previous low price points for Nexus devices. Instead, they are going to sell the Nexus 6 through major wireless carriers. It will be available through the Play Store for $649, off-contract. You'll also be able to grab it on-contract from Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular. It will go on pre-order October 29 and be released in the beginning of November.
The Nexus 9 is an 8.9-inch tablet made by HTC. It is powered by a Tegra K1 processor, has 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 1.6-megapixel camera on the front. It comes in 16GB and 32GB variants, and runs Android L, just like the Nexus 6. The Nexus 9 will be available for pre-order October 17 and will be released November 3.
The Nexus Player is an Android TV box made by Asus. It comes with a small remote and can be used to browse media content on Netflix, YouTube, and others. You can play games on it, and it has a dedicated microphone for voice search. It comes with 8GB of internal storage. A gaming controller will be sold separately. Pre-orders start October 17 for $99.
