Samsung showcased a bunch of devices at their IFA event last month. One of those devices was the Galaxy Note Edge, an odd handset which come call innovative, others however, gimmicky. No matter which way you look at this, Samsung did bring something new to the table, something which can be considered a far better offering than the Galaxy Round in my humble opinion, if anyone even remembers that thing. Galaxy Note Edge is a rather powerful device which carries most of Note 4’s specifications and all of its software features along with a rather interesting side “Edge” screen which acts as a completely separate panel. We’ve seen a few reports hinting that this device will have limited availability once Samsung releases it, though it seems it won’t be as limited as we thought. The device is already available for pre-order from several sources and Australian consumers can already purchase it from Yatango.
US consumers might get a piece of this device soon as well. Galaxy Note Edge paid a visit to FCC under the model number SM-915A. The listing reveals that the device offers support for AT&T and US Cellular’s LTE bands, which are great news for those who want to get their hands on the Note Edge. Keep in mind this is not a guarantee that we’ll see it available anytime soon, but it indicates the device will arrive to those carriers sooner or later. The Note Edge is going to be released in Japan on October 23rd, so I guess US consumers will see it November or December at the very least, if not at the same time it launches in Japan, I’m just guessing though.
Galaxy Note Edge is sporting a 5.6-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display and is powered by a Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor clocked at 2.7GHz. 3GB of RAM are available on the inside for all your multitasking needs and the phone comes with 32 or 64GB of internal storage (expandable via MicroSD card up to 64GB). 16-megapixel OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) camera can be found on the back of the device while there’s a 3.7-megapixel camera on the front of the device. 3000mAh battery is also part of the package as well as Android 4.4.4 Kitkat with Samsung’s Revolving UX UI on top of it. The device measures 151.3 x 82.4 x 8.3mm and it weighs 174 grams.
