I guess you can say Xiaomi is an up-and-coming company, although that wouldn't be all that accurate considering this Chinese smartphone manufacturer is already number 1 manufacturer in China. The company is spreading its business abroad and will only become bigger, so it's nowhere near its full potential just yet. According to Xiaomi's CEO, the company plans to move 100 million devices in 2015. They will definitely hit the planned 60 million mark this year, even go over it considering they have moved 44 million devices by the end of 3rd quarter and holidays are coming. Xiaomi's sales went up 20% in Q3 this year, which is also a great achievement for the company.
Xiaomi and Meizu don't really like each other considering they are fierce competitors in the Chinese market. They had numerous quarrels via press and all of that escalated quite recently considering that Meizu is selling their MX4 flagships like hotcakes. MX4 is significantly cheaper than the Xiaomi's Mi4 offering and it seems that Xiaomi plans to release a cheaper version of that device in order to compete with Meizu. We've heard rumors about this several times by now and this time around we actually have some material to show with you. A back cover of an alleged Xiaomi-made smartphone surfaced in China. That back cover is 152mm high and 82mm wide, which means this is not a part of a small device. If I had to guess, I'd say we're talking about a 5.5-inch phone, just like the source said. It is rumored that this device will sport a 5.5-inch 1080p display along with 3GB of RAM and a 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera. It will reportedly be powered by MediaTek's MT6595 octa-core processor and will sport a 5-megapixel snapper on the front. 3500mAh battery is expected to be a part of this package as well.
These are all just rumors at this point, but if Xiaomi really do manages to price this thing close to the MX4 that would really help them sell this thing. These specifications are nothing to scoff at, quite on contrary, they're quite great. We'll let you know if we get any information about this device, stay tuned.
