Entwined Challenge was launched by Playstation Mobile just earlier this morning, and instantly we felt that it deserved some spotlight as game of the week. The original full game of Entwined is out and available for PS3, PS4, and PS Vita, and the challenge mode from the full game has been slightly altered and optimized for play on Android smartphones and tablets. The game features striking visuals just like you’d see in the full game, although admittedly it probably still looks a good deal better on consoles than it does on smartphones. The colors appear just as vivid, and you get to listen to great original soundtrack while you play which makes this game almost soothing in a way.
Entwined Challenge focuses on keeping the games two characters, the fish and the bird, moving in perfect harmony so that you might be able to reach the end of the level and lead the two into evolution. Controls are fairly simple and of course touch based, although we hope that Sony adds controller support at some point. You place your fingers on both sides of the screen, and simply drag up or down to move and control both the fish and the bird. The goal is to move the characters in line with the upcoming objects you see on screen which match the colors of the characters.
There are five different Asian inspired unique levels themed after the elements, water, wood, fire, earth, and metal. As you move through each object, you’ll gain points and rack them up on your high score, which you can use to compare yourself in the leaderboard against others who play the game. You will need a certain amount of points to unlock following levels, and upon reaching certain scores within each level you’ll be able to unlock extras like concept art, sketches and videos of the game. The app will set you back $0.99, which seems like a good price for what you’re getting. The game feels fluid, and is actually quite addicting when picked up to play. If you loved the original Entwined and wanted the ability to get some action with it on the go, you can grab Entwined Challenge from the Play Store link.
