Alcatel OneTouch Pop Mega LTE Going to Straight Talk at WalMart

We reported in September that Alcatel OneTouch was going to release three new devices that were headed directly to Straight Talk and sold exclusively in Wal-Mart stores.  The three smartphones are POP Icon, the Star LTE for under $150, and the POP Mega LTE for $249.  We just received notice that one device is already in the stores, and it is the top-of-the-line POP Mega LTE for the $249, as promised.  The image they sent is shown below - I guess as proof that they have it in stock.

The Alcatel OneTouch POP Mega LTE comes with a 6-inch qHD display...not to be confused with the new QHD displays coming out on today's flagships.  The qHD provides a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels - it will fool nobody that it is a Full HD display, but consider the fact that it is 6-inches and on a device that only costs $249 and suddenly it looks very good.  It is powered by a quad-core processor, clocked at 1.2GHz and has 1GB of RAM, but only 4GB of internal storage.  Of the 4GB, only about 1.8GB is available for actual storage, however, there is room for a 32GB microSD card for additional storage.  I would recommend picking up the card before or at the same time of your POP Mega LTE purchase so you will have it ready to go right away.

Alcatel actually put in a decent camera in this price range - it is an 8MP shooter complete with auto focus and a LED Flash and they even give you a full 2MP front-facing camera for video chatting and social media selfies.  You also get an ample sized 3400mAh battery, which they claim will give you up to 14 hours of talk-time.  The Alcatel POP Mega LTE comes with the usual suspects - Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with A-GPS, a micro SIM card, a FM radio, an Airplane Mode, a Vibrate Mode and a microUSB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer.  It also is running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and it measures 6.39 x 3.32 x .34 inches and weighs in at 6.42 ounces. Please hit us up on our Google+ Page and let us know if the POP Mega LTE on Straight Talk is a device that you may find always, we would love to hear from you.
