It's the IFA in Berlin and as expected, Samsung have taken the covers off their latest addition(s) to the Galaxy Note family, the Galaxy Note 4 with its standard flat display, and its sidekick whose display is curved at the right side, the Galaxy Note Edge. As is typical with Samsung's flagship phones, there are a lot of partnerships with 3rd party companies to offer the user an enhanced experience via its Galaxy Gifts service. Today, it's been announced that both versions of the Galaxy Note 4 will also come with 6 months worth of free membership to the Life360 Premium service.
What is Life360? Well, its a cservice that was founded in 2008, coming tops in Google's Android Developers Challenge of that same year. It's installed on your phone (Android or iOS) via an application, and it allows you to see your family members and their locations on a map. You can send messages to your loved ones as well as keep track of where they are, receiving alerts on your phone when they have arrived at their destination. Instead of someone calling you to ask if you have returned home safely, you can just check in on your Life360 application, and an alert will be sent to the relevant person or group informing them that you are ok. You can share your contacts into various groups, for example a family or friends group, choosing to add and delete contacts as they enter or leave your life.
The Premium version of the Life360 service offers some interesting options that include a Live Advisor who will connect you to a real person that can direct emergency services to you and give personalised crisis care pertaining to your situation. Life360 Premium can also guide tow-trucks to your location in the event of a break-down via their live dispatchers. If you put you phone down somewhere and cant find it, Life360 Premium will allow you to locate up to 6 smartphones. If it turns out your phone was stolen, and the service can't locate the phone, you will receive $100 worth of Stolen Phone Protection with a qualifying claim.
Usually the Life360 Premium plan costs $5 a month or $50 for a 12 month plan. So with Samsung partnering up with them to give the new Galaxy Note 4 user a free 6 Month Premium plan, its a saving of 25-30 Dollars.
Samsung often throws in freebies with their smart phones via their Galaxy Gifts service, and I'm sure that this won't be the only one we will see announced today.
