Berlin’s big tech conference began last week and there was plenty of things to see from numerous OEMs. One of the things announced was Samsung’s new smartwatch added to their already extensive lineup of offerings, the Gear S smartwatch. It has the embedded nanoSIM so that you can use the device free of a connection to your smartphone to take calls, send and receive messages or even browse headlines and read news on the web. Although that last one might not be as easy or as enjoyable as you might expect with such a small display. New York’s Fashion Week is also upon us, and the Gear S is making an appearance there too thanks to Samsung’s partnership with Diesel.
Diesel for those who are unaware is a fairly expensive clothing brand, and Samsung has entered into a partnership with them to create bands for the Gear S smartwatch, to be offered as part of Diesel’s Black Gold collection which is their more expensive, high-end line. The bands of course will be leather, and like nearly every single Diesel watch band before it,(for those old things called regular watches that simply told the time)they’re obscenely wide, and in case you had any doubts about Samsung having premium leather straps available for the Gear S officially, rest assured, the Diesel Black Gold bands for the watches will be leather. High Quality leather.
Diesel won’t be helping to create just one band either, they’re apparently collaborating with Samsung to develop and offer a selection of different “unique” bands as put by engadget, which only tells us that we might be in for some really ridiculous looking stuff. That isn’t to say that there won’t be any attractive designs, so long as they’re not all like the bands pictured in the images shown off here. Think of this collection’s style as heavily inspired by New Wave Rock and Rockabilly(as explained by Samsung and Diesel), so if you’re into that we think we have found the perfect Gear S band for you. The different colored leathers, the metal studs, it’s all very Fashion forward, mixed with a bit of futuristic vibes thanks to the Gear S nestled in the band. Samsung hasn’t announced pricing or release dates for these bands just yet, or availability locations, but our guess is that you’ll be able to pick these up at any(or select)Diesel retail locations as well as on their website, and possibly from Samsung as well.
