We learned yesterday that U.K.’s Clove Technology website had started taking Samsung Galaxy Note 4 pre-orders and they were touting an October 13 delivery date…and they were charging a non-VAT price of £479.17 or about $780 – on par with the Note 3’s pricing. Today we received the official word from Samsung that the Galaxy Note 4 will be available for pre-orders, Friday, September 19 from the Samsung Experience stores across the U.K. This will be closely followed at other select online and retailers; including Three and CPW…it will go on sale to the general public on Friday, October 10. Ines van Gennip, Marketing Director, IT & Mobile Division, Samsung UK & Ireland said:
“With its premium design and Super AMOLED display, the Galaxy Note 4 is the go-to-device for those looking for a stunning viewing experience. With a number of innovative features to aid multitasking and increase productivity, we’re excited to offer our UK customers a revolutionary way of accessing and engaging with content on their mobile device.”
The highly anticipated Galaxy Note 4 has a new look from its predecessor, but it is more evolutionary, than revolutionary. Samsung kept the highly successful Note 3 basic premise, but added an all-metal frame with sculptured edges to help absorb shock, if dropped, but they kept the faux leather look of the back – making it a very solid, yet elegant looking device. Samsung chose to keep the same 5.7-inch screen size, but they added a Quad HD (QHD) display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and a whopping 515 pixels-per-inch (PPI) that just jumps out at you with their Super AMOLED technology. The new Note 4’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor clocked at 2.7GHz or the Exynos 5433 Octa-Core will fly through anything you throw at it. The 3GB of RAM on board and the 32GB of storage should handle your everyday needs – but if you need more storage, there is room for up to 128GB vis a microSD card slot.
Samsung made improvements in the cameras as well – the main shooter went up to 16MP and they added Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) to their ISOCELL technology for low-light pictures, along with auto focus and a LED Flash. The front-facing camera (FFC) was bumped up to a 3.7MP wide-angled lens, which will allow more area into your video chats or group selfies. It is powered by a 3220mAh battery and with the Quick Charge and Ultra Power Saving Mode (UPSM), you should always have the power when you need it most.
The S-Pen also saw its share of improvements as well – greater sensitivity, allowing the user the feel of real writing with a pen. It also has Action Memo, Screen Write, Image Clip and Smart Select. Samsung has also included a fingerprint scanner, Heart Rate Monitor, UV Sensor, Oxygen Saturation Sensor and IR Blaster.
