In the midst of all the Apple news today - in case you're under a rock it's iPhone 6/6 Plus day today - only one company has the power to get into headlines on a day like today. And that's Samsung of course. Today, the South Korean phone manufacturer announced a new app for the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy Note 4, that's My Knox. Basically what My Knox does is it brings better security for businesses. Since most businesses allow you to bring your own phones now, but they still want to secure these phones because some companies give you access to personal data. And that's what My Knox aims to do.
"My KNOX is a fast and easy way to get access to your work email and key business apps without requiring IT admin support. My KNOX separates your work from your personal life on your device. This provides a secure and productive way to access work email and apps while also protecting your personal privacy. Personal apps and data such as photos can be kept private from your company. Also, if your device is lost or stolen you can remotely lock, find or wipe your device with the My KNOX user portal."
So with the app you've got a quick way to get to your work email and key business apps without needing support from your companies IT department. Which is a big deal. Coming from someone who used to work in IT, this is huge. This app separates your personal life from your work life on your one device. Which is definitely nice to have a firm line between the two. Samsung also announced two security services that are subscription based, for IT admins. Which you can take a look at that from the source link below. How many of you own the Galaxy S5 or are going to pick up the Galaxy Note 4?
