Whenever a product is in high demand and the manufacturer or provider can't keep up with that demand, an entire black market is created to help meet that demand for those who are willing to pay enough to get what they want. This has been the case for plenty of products and events in history, and the latest big one is definitely the OnePlus One. The OnePlus One, which is easily one of the best phones to debut in 2014, has been in high demand and super low supply for what seems like forever now, and is still being sold through the invite-only system that it launched with back in late Spring. While this system has turned off plenty of buyers for the phone, OnePlus is still making phones as fast as it can, purportedly, and is soon moving to a pre-order system instead. While it seems ridiculous to have a pre-order system for a 4 month old phone, it is what it is and it will hopefully cut down on people trying to scam others for an invite.
In the mean time the invite system is still alive and kicking and there are plenty of contests and giveaways out there for people to get their own OnePlus One. Quite possibly the largest invite giveaway we've ever seen is from oneplusoneinvites.net, which is supposedly giving away 9 invites for every 10 entries it has received. Yes you read that right, 90% of people who enter are supposedly getting invites, which makes this a little bit fishy. Checking with the OnePlus forums shows that this website is not official and not sanctioned by OnePlus themselves even though the website looks official. Basically it looks like whoever is running this website is looking to farm for info of those invited, so before you get all crazy and go entering every OnePlus One contest you can find, make sure to give it a good hard look to verify its authenticity. For now buyer, or rather contest entrant, beware.
